A Way Home Kamloops

WHO

A Way Home Kamloops focuses on prevention, housing and support for homeless youth. The program is based on a national model and is led by former youth with lived experience. It is innovative and collaborative in nature.

WHAT

AWHK coordinates five action teams. 1. Youth Housing First Warpforce, 15 organizations in Kamloops have centralized their housing intake and coordination via the Warpforce. 2. Peer Led Employment and Education Program 3. Youth Against Homelessness 4. Supports and Prevention 5. Youth Count: homeless youth count, first of its in Canada since 2016.

WHY

We were attracted to this program because it adopts the well supported housing first mode, because it is collaborative it nature, it brings together various community assets and finally because it is led and informed by youth and youth with lived experience.

WILD CARD

The Conconi Family Foundation has been an anchor funder since inception and has seen a grass roots pilot project grow to a stand alone charitable organization. We continue our advisory role as this organization develops and grows.
