When people think of Spring, they often think of the annual clean. It’s a time to hit the refresh button on clutter, and enter the new season feeling reinvigorated. But what can you do to contribute outside of your home? Below, we’ve listed 10 important charity events you can get involved with this Spring:

April Events:

  1. Evening to Remember – New Orleans Night Out

What: Join the Kamloops Hospice Association for a night of dinner, dancing and bidding in a live silent auction. All proceeds will benefit the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home.

When: Friday, April 7th 2017 at 6:00 PM

  1. Sal Ferreras Presents: Drum Heat

What: A benefit concert in support of Arts Umbrella. Renowned drummer and percussionist Sal Ferreras presents some of BC’s most outstanding world music and jazz artists live at the Vogue Theatre.

When: Thursday, April 27th 2017 at 7:00 PM

  1. TC10K

What: The TC 10K is an annual Victoria run, joining over 11,000 runners and walkers for a spectacular, scenic and community-oriented day. The BC Cancer Foundation has been announced as a benefiting charity, and funds can be made directly to the organization through the event.

  1. Sleep Out: Mothers Edition Vancouver

What: The Covenant House is challenging mothers to spend a full night outside with just a sleeping bag and piece of cardboard. With proceeds going directly to the Covenant House, Sleep Out aims to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of homeless youth.

When: Tuesday, May 4th 2017 at 7:00 PM

  1. Definitely Not a Gala! Annual Help CLICK Help Kids Event

What: Celebrate over 10 years of supporting Vancouver’s inner city kids at CLICK’s annual fundraising reception and silent auction. The event calls for casual attire and features some fantastic silent auction items.

When: Tuesday, May 4th 2017 at 6:30 PM

Where: Creekside Community Centre, 1 Athletes Way, Vancouver, BC

  1. Jeans Day

What: Individuals, families, corporations, and schools across BC and the Yukon are encouraged to buy a button or a pin and wear denim on Tuesday, May 4th 2017. All funds raised by the event are donated to the Excellence in Child Health Fund, which provides critical support to BC Children’s Hospital, Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children and the Child & Family Research Institute.

  1. Workshop – Community Kitchen Leadership

What: The Greater Vancouver Food Bank is holding a 6-hour workshop in which participants will learn different ways to create a community kitchen. The GVFB workshops supports community organizers and facilitators in their roles. If you work in a community kitchen, food bank, meal program or are coordinating workshops in your community, this workshop is perfect for you.

When: Thursday, May 18th 2017 at 9:00 AM

  1. Little Black Dress Gala

What: The Little Black Dress Gala showcases prominent artists, while also providing young and local talent the opportunity to show their work. Attendees are encouraged to wear a black dress or suit for a glamorous evening of jazz, ballet, opera and giving back. Youth and women are the primary focus of the Little Black Dress Gala, with proceeds going to support Help Change My City Alliance (HCMC Alliance).

June Events:

 

  1. Victoria Goddess Run

 What: The 5th Annual Goddess Run will be held in Victoria, supporting the BC Cancer Foundation. Since its inauguration, 11,000+ Goddesses have participated in the run and over $170,000 has been raised for charity. The event is open to every level of runner or walker, making it appealing to all women!

 When:  Sunday, June 4th 2017 at 8:00 AM

  1. Boat for Hope Vancouver

 What: A fundraiser in support of Variety – the Children’s Charity, the Boat of Hope treats children with special needs and their families to a day of pirate adventure on Vancouver’s False Creek. The event is supported by local business communities who work together to create an unforgettable experience for kids who may otherwise never be able to enjoy such an adventure due to mobility, financial and other challenges they face in their day-to-day lives.

 When:  Saturday, June 10th 2017
