Take a look inside the Conconi Family Biodevice Foundry at the University of British Columbia (UBC).
Meet Ruth, a master’s student at the University of British Columbia (UBC) studying what makes cancer cells more resilient.
In this interview, she shares how access to the Conconi Family Biodevice Foundry is helping her build the devices she needs to answer that question. At the Foundry, Ruth can design, build and test multiple versions of her research devices right on campus. Ordering a device from overseas would mean waiting months for a single version. Building them at UBC gives her the flexibility to refine a design and explore new questions as her research evolves.
Based at UBC’s School of Biomedical Engineering, the Foundry gives students, researchers and industry partners access to specialized equipment and expertise to develop and test biomedical devices here in British Columbia.
