What are you excited to work on at the Foundation?
text
I’m excited to know my work is making an impact and contributing to transformational change. There are a range of issues in our health and social care system, and I’m excited to start tackling some of these issues, and collaborate with local organizations to figure out how we can improve the health and well-being of the residents in British Columbia. I’m also excited to further develop my skills and interest in project management, and knowledge dissemination.

What keeps you up at night?

Oh gosh, there’s a lot. At the moment, I’m reading a book that goes over the history of the Ebola disease and the outbreaks that occurred. While this topic has been fascinating to learn about, it’s also pretty frightening.

What drove you to apply for this job?
text
When I saw the job posting and the focus on community involvement, I was instantly interested in learning more about the Foundation. It’s too often that organizations state that they want to make an impactful change, but neglect to include the community in the development of the program. I was interested in working for the Foundation for a number of reasons, but the emphasis placed on the community was one of the driving factors. I was also excited to apply to the Foundation because of the ambitious goal of making lasting, transformational change.

What’s was the biggest surprise about working at the Foundation?

Hmm, I’d have to say the biggest surprise has been learning about how complex the not-for profit world is. There’s lots of moving pieces, and it’s been interesting learning and exploring the sector.

What’s Meagan like outside of the office?

When I’m not working at the Foundation, I’m outside exploring the absolutely beautiful landscape that Vancouver has to offer. My dog, Honey and I have found a few great dog-friendly hikes, and look forward to exploring even more!
